LiveLighter celebrates Australia Day with 'Bottoms Up' campaign

23/01/2014

LiveLighter has launched its Australia Day campaign that aims to encourage West Australians adults to get their bottoms up off the couch and get active.

The ‘Bottoms Up’ campaign is running across state radio featuring an instrumental version of the Australian national anthem to grab people’s attention; highlighting the important day that sees every Australian bursting with pride.

LiveLighter Campaign Director Maria Szybiak said that as many West Australians make plans to celebrate this long weekend it can be easy to push physical activity aside so through this ad LiveLighter is giving everyone a friendly nudge this Australia Day.

“By resurrecting the household expression, ‘Bottoms Up’ often used in toasts, we want to celebrate everything that is great about being Australian, we’re encouraging West Aussies to literally get their bottoms up and enjoy the great outdoors,” she said.

“Backyard or beach cricket is a staple activity for Australia Day – make use of the public holiday to have fun with your family and get active, go for a walk or play games like cricket or soccer at the park or the beach.”

The integrated campaign is supported with print advertising and is promoted across the LiveLighter Facebook page with a competition where 5 lucky people will win an outdoor cricket set.

“Over two-thirds of WA adults are reported to be overweight or obese. With that, comes an increased risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes and several cancers so we are encouraging everyone to be more active as part of a healthier lifestyle.”

The LiveLighter website contains information to support WA adults to live a healthier lifestyle and includes a range of healthy recipes for the weekend.
