How much physical activity is recommended?
National guidelines recommend that adults are active on most days, do a combination of aerobic, strength and mobility exercises over the week, and reduce overall time spent sitting.
If you currently do no physical activity, start by doing some, and gradually build up to the recommended amount. Remember that even if we aren't immediately reaching the guidelines, any extra bit of movement we get into our day is a win for health!
Some physical activities can count towards more than one guideline. For example, taking the stairs counts towards your moderate-vigorous physical activity goal AND is an activity that improves mobility, balance and coordination.
